While doing some random vampire searching, yes weird, but a great way to avoid grading freshmen student papers, I came across an interesting little gem: The Temple of the Vampire.

Really quite a site. They claim to be a Vampire organization complete with a Bible (you can purchase for $20), a Temple (complete with priests), plenty of “member testimonials” and lists of FAQs, and a sassy selection of medalians and rings. Even though I have made my own lessons about working to understand the validity and credibility of a website in my freshmen classes, I’m not sure what to make of all this site. My first instinct is to think “wow what an elaborate hoax site.” However, who puts that much time into something, who makes merchandise and bibles?Are these people actually serious?
Has anyone ever heard of this before; what do ya’ll make of this? Just a hoax or actually a cult of some sort? (I guess either is kind of a sad answer huh?)
